"Mad for Plaid" SERGER event
THE PROJECT
The day's featured will be a Serger project. Each participant will create a BACKPACK that uses several serger techniques and feet.
There is some piecing with a serger to show quilters how you can use a serger for your piecing.
Participants will become familiar with stitches of the serger such as the chain stitch, three thread narrow and Coverstitch as you create a plaid texture for one side of the bag and do some quilt piecing for the other.
Fabric will be different between the brands.

| Skill Details: | No serger experience is required! This class is designed to show case the features of the various levels of sergers to help participants interested in purchasing a seger decided which model might best suit their individual needs. |
| Materials Included: | You will be provided all materials needed to complete the days project. |
| Requirements: | It is suggested that participants bring with them a pair of scissors and any other individual items (pins, clips, markers, seam-rippers, etc.) which might make their sewing experience more enjoyable. |

| Instructor Bio: | (989) 860-8917 cindypeck54@gmail.com Cindy Peck is a sewing enthusiast who learned to sew as a young child using a sewing machine with a knee controller because her legs were too short to reach the foot controller on the floor. Cindy enjoys sewing garments, crafts, gift items, and quilts as well as embroidering or embellishing ready-made items. Her career as a scientist and as an educator helped her develop an interest in sewing products which reduce the use of one- time plastics and repurpose natural fibers to contribute to the maintenance of a greener earth. She has taught sewing for more than 20 years and believes learning should be fun. Her no-nonsense approach (including everyday anecdotes and examples of what can go wrong and how to recover) empowers everyone to expand their skills and take time for sewing each week ?just because they deserve it?. |
