NOT Receiving Emails for IQD

We have received a number of reports of clients NOT receiving our e-mails.

What we have learned from our service provider is that IF emails go unread/unopened the systems STOPS sending to that email address. The reasoning behind this is so emails sent do not get filtered out automatically as SPAM by email servers blocking emails to ALL...

IF you are not receiving emails from us YOU need to follow the link and re-start them, we cannot do this for you.

RE START EMAILS from Indiana Quilt Depot

Our system puts out an automatic e-mail each Thursday with DIFFERENT information. One week, it is our best selling products for the previous month, the next up coming classes, then new products we have brought in. On occasion, we put out other information but we do not bombard you with daily emails.

The other system that we are trying to implement is text notifications. These are short messages and you must enroll to receive. These are nice as this will be the primary means (along with Facebook live videos) for us to announce flash sales and the like. if you are not enrolled, you may be missing out.

Happy New Year!!!!

Happy New Year! We are happy to see 2021 in the annual of history. For many of us 2021 was not the best year for a variety of reasons with COVID again being the big bear in the room. But, we survived and we are here in 2022. To all of you who supported us through the year, THANK YOU. All of us here at the IQD greatly appreciate your business and support as we strive to become more of the quilt shop YOU want and need.

In Spite of Covid, the shop made some great strides forward and we have even more planned in 2022. We hope that you will join us on the journey.

While 2021 was anything but normal, maybe we got a little closer. To that end, we have made a few strides. We have started to hold classes again! We have started our “Sewing with Friends” open sews in the event center and we held two Husqvarna-Viking Events. We will be expanding classes in the next year (IF you have suggestions or would like a particular topic/subject let us know). We have already scheduled Two Husqvarna Viking Educator Events for this year. We have a couple other ideas we are kicking around but, we have to see as there are many moving parts to organize guest instructors and events.

2021 saw Husqvarna-Viking introduce a Long Arm Quilting Machine in the line. We have had a few of these sold and the clients have great reports on them. To support this we now have a Long Arm Quilter set up in the Event Center. We have started to “certify” folks on the machine and we are renting out time. We have had a VERY Good response to this addition. IF we continue to have such continued interest, we will add another. While we continue to sell and fully support the Husqvarna Viking line, we have started promoting the Singe machines as well. 2021 saw Singer introduce a NEW line, only available through the dealers, which is a substantially better engineered and constructed machine than has been in the singer line for a LONG time. The Company has made a commitment to bring back quality and reliability to the band that has been absent for sometime. We know there are a number of new and improved machines and accessories coming for both brands so stay tune…

While on machines, we have had a number of machines traded in that will soon be available. These are good machines and we have some great prices. We have a number of Epics, a couple Diamonds, and a few Ruby’s in addition to some discontinued models. IF you know of someone who needs a machine, we have them STARTING at $100 and going up.

2021 saw us added a few new fabric lines and start to feature some Designer Collections. One of the new lines we have introduced is Liberty of London Fabrics. According to our rep, we are the only dealer in Southern Indiana. We have started to feature Lori Holt’s collections. We have brought in the Cookbook line which is the fabric used in her up coming sew along “Chicken Salad”. If you are interested, come in and check it out.

In addition to Lori Holt, we have brought the Northcott Stonehenge, “For the Brave” collection. This is a patriot collection commemorating Northcott’s 10 year association with the Quilts of Valor”. There will be a sew-along, starting in March, featuring this collection with monthly prizes throughout the year along with OTHER contests, so stay tune as more information is available. Over the course of the year we will be acquiring the ENTIRE Stonehenge collection as a staple line.

For those with a more modern and brighter take on quilting and life, we have expanded or line of Tula Pink Fabrics.

There are some additional lines and collections but those will wait till we are better prepared to explain them. Suffice it to say, we are doing our best to provide the widest selection possible.

One of the things we are most excited about in this year is our inclusion in the Southern Indiana Shop Hop, which will be held the end of JUNE. The theme of this year’s shop hop will be “Shadows of Southern Indiana”. We are looking forward to working with the other nine shops to make this an enjoyable and successful for all concerned.

Again, thank you to ALL of you who have help make 2021 a successful year in-spite of the Covid Challenges. We hope that it is a wonderful New Year for ALL of you. HOPEFULLY with a few less challenges…

KONA "Color of the DAY" Sale Week of *-14 November 2021

KONA “COLOR of the DAY” SALE

For those of you who have not caught on yet, to celebrate our 4th Anniversary in business, we are having a KONA COLOR of the DAY on sale for the next 14 months (We may extend it IF it is well received).

The sale is based on the calendar KONA puts out each year (We still have a few 2022 calendars available). With the calendar, KONA has provided FREE QUILT PATTERNS that feature some of the colors of that month. We will be posting links for those patterns. We will also have hard copies of the patterns in the shop. While we cannot sell the patterns, you will be charge for copy expenses.

The sale will entail the KONA FEATURED COLOR of the DAY being on sale at $2.00/yard OFF our regular published price. Right now, our Regular Price is $8.95 @ yard. This means our sale price will be $6.95 @ yard. The sale will run from midnight to midnight the day of the sale. Some have ask about the plan for days the shop is closed (Sundays & Holidays). To make these colors available in the store, we will be extending the sale of those colors, in the store, through the day before and day after (on-line sales will be for the stated 24 hour period). For example, Sunday’s Color was Limestone SKU# KN478. As the Store was closed Yesterday, we offered, the color, IN STORE, Saturday and Today, Monday, the open days bracketing the day the store is closed.

There are a FEW rules to keep in mind governing this sale:

1) Prices stated are the CURRENT prices. We have been informed to expect “Significant Price Increases” after the first of the year. Our prices will be adjusted to reflect any such increase.

2) IF the COLOR of the DAY is out of stock, WE will honor the stated sale price on orders for the color made the day of the sale.

3) You will be required to pay full sale price for any order the day of the sale. There will be NO CANCELATIONS/REFUNDS on orders. We Commit to getting you the material as quickly as possible, but once we have made the order we are committed. We will be placing an order AT LEAST once a week. Generally, the Suppliers have orders on the way to us within 10 working days, but we can make no guarantees on availability in the warehouse. Patience will be required in some, HOPEFULLY VERY infrequent, cases.

Okay, I have not done the job of advertising/promoting this that I had hoped. In all honesty, it has been much more time consuming than I realized... We are working on it and making it a LOT smoother getting the information out there so you can take advantage of the sale. I am going to try and post a picture each week, showing the colors coming up on sale that week.

Please be patient, we are working to make this as sooth as possible and hopefully we will be improving as time goes on …. IF we receive enough interest we might start assembling QUILT KITS based on the month’s patterns. IF you have suggestions to make this promotion better, please let us know and we will give it DUE consideration….

Make your own masks!

During this time of uncertainty, it can be therapeutic to keep busy and participate in activities that contribute to the greater good. As many of you know, COVID-19 has created an extreme shortage of medical masks. Although homemade masks may not provide the same level of protection as the N95 medical masks, many hospitals and medical groups have called on their local communities to join them in sewing homemade masks and mask covers. We encourage you to contact your local hospitals to coordinate supply efforts.

This is the first picture Indiana Quilt Depot has received of one of our mask kits. She hasn't got her tucks in It yet but a great job for A ten year old.....

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

A New Year's wish for ALL of you fans & supporters..

2019 has been a challenging year from the start right to the finish! The road construction really hurt us this summer, but with your continued support, we survived... Many of us have experienced great loss this past year, some have experienced great successes, we thank you for sharing those with us.

We are hoping that that the new year see each of you reach your goals, and dreams and aspirations and so much more.. And we look forward to sharing those with you again.

We are going to be closed New Years Day.

January is going to see some interesting sales here at the quilt depot!

1) We have been assured that the fabric we were SUPPOSE to get before Christmas will be here THURSDAY (2 Jan). Since it wasn't here to sale between Christmas & New year, we are going to have it on sale from it's arrival till the 18th of January... So, instead of a week, we are going to have it go for Two (2) Full weeks. These are top name fabrics...

2) The Anitagood Designs Winter Attic Sale starts THURSDAY (2 Jan). We have these on sale for the Month but they will go VERY fast so if you want the good ones get here early... And believe me there are some really nice ones in this selection. Prices are ranging from $10 up to $90 [These are significantly discounted from regular price].

3) We are starting our "Adopt a Owner" classes a week from Saturday (11th). If you have bought or received a new machine for Christmas, NO MATTER WHERE you bought it OR BRAND, we will be giving FREE familiarization lessons on it... This wont be an in-depth class but will help you learn the basics of your machine.

4) We are ALWAYS looking for ideas for classes. IF you would like to see a class (or instructor) let us know!!!! We will do everything in our power to provide you with the experiences YOU desire....

IT HAS BEEN A YEAR!!!!!!

It was one year ago today that we moved to our current location, and it has been a pretty good year!!

We have continued to expand our selection of merchandise from increased numbers of machines to new lines of fabrics. We are now carrying Quilt Treasures, Northcott, Riley Blake, RJR and a number of other QUILT SHOP exclusive lines.

In the next couple of months, you will see us introducing a number of NEW PRODUCTS in the form of Pre-Cuts and Kits.

CLASSES

Our Classes have not been doing as well as we would like. Please tell us what we need to do to increase attendance? What classes do YOU want? WHEN do we need to hold classes? YOU tell us what we need to do to accommodate your needs and desires. IF attendance does not pick up soon, we are going to consider halting classes...

CONSTRUCTION.

The on going construction on S.R. 37 has certainly slowed business. We ARE OPEN. We had to install barrels/ a barracade to SLOW through traffic in the driveway between the buildings. YOU CAN get through to our parking lot, you just have to weave around the barrels. We are sorry for the inconvenance but it is a matter of safety.

INTERNET SALES of Husqvarna-Viking Machines and branded products.

As a dealers, we have specific territories that we have exclusive rights and those area are protected. Honoring that agreement means that INTERNET any NON-IN-PERSON sales are prohibited.

Unfortunately, the manner our web-page provider has things set-up it gives the APPEARANCE of allowing sales of these items over the internet. ALL of the items in question have the "ADD TO CART" button deactivated and the following message appears in its place:

"This item is not available for purchase online.

Please call (812) 275-7400 for more information."

Additionally, I have tried to include the additional statement of:

"Per licensing agreements with SVP, Machines CANNOT be SOLD over the Internet, They must be, "In Person" sales."

in the description of said items.

We are working with council to develop a statement that might make it even clearer that sales WILL NOT be made over the internet in violation of dealer agreements. [If such statement is missing on any item that is an oversight and will be corrected as quickly as discovered].

We are also working with our web-page provider to change the way the program presents the information so it might not be misleading.

To my fellow dealers out there, I apologize for any distress this has apparently caused.
I can assure you that we have NEVER sold a machine over the internet in violation of the dealer agreement and have in fact referred a number of calls and inquires to closest dealers to said individuals.
I have also offered my sales records to inspection of my region sales manager and anyone UP the H-V hierarchy for inspection to confirm this statement. We have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to HIDE.

It has been a YEAR!!!!

It has been just a little over 13 months since The Bedford Sewing Center was bought out and became the INDIANA QUILT DEPOT & MACHINE SERVICE....

In that time, a LOT has happened... Not the least of which has been TWO (2) moves....

We now have tripled the number of machines in the store on display and for sale. We have machines for ALL ranges of experience and budgets... Our machines start at $175 and go up... Yes, you can get a machine for less money at the big box store... So WHY should you pay more for a machine from us:

- we have the machines set up so you can test sew it to see if you are comfortable with it BEFORE you take it home.
- we give you familiarization lessons with every NEW machine we sell.
- We service and maintain the machines we sell ON-SITE. We don't give you another machine, we make sure your machine is adjusted to suit you and the way you sew.
- We maintain a FULL range of accessories and notions for YOUR machine, not generic but brand items.
- We actually USE the machines ourselves...

- We hold classes, lessons and unlike the clerks at the big box store, we have been trained on the machines by the Company to teach you in how to get the most from you machine.

Check out the machines at the bottom of the page. We are featuring the NEW QUILT FRAME SYSTEM from Husqvarna-Viking. This is a compact long arm machine (it ONLY requires a 4' x 5' space but yet you can easily handle a full KING-SIZED quilt. The OTHER FEATURE of this SYSTEM is that it will use MANY of our existing machines. IF you already own one of our machines, it locks into the frame and you quilt. IF you need to sew, you unlock the machine and take it off the frame... This means a substantial savings in you don't HAVE to have an entirely different machine JUST of Quilting.

Fabrics.... We have almost tripled the selection of Fabrics available to you...

We have more than 60 different panels in wide range of subjects.

We have an ever expanding line of novelty prints featuring Birds, trains, airplanes, horse, space , patriotic and the list goes on.. That doesn't include all the different blenders and solids we have. We try to bring in FIVE (5) to TEN (10) new PRINTS a month...

We are carrying Top name fabrics such as Northcott, Quilt Treasures, RJR, Timeless Treasures, and more. We have fabrics priced to meet a wide range of needs at differing price points. We have fabrics starting at $2.50/yard and up. So, there is a good chance we can work within your budget for your project.

We have also added Quilt Backings to our product line in the last year... We have a growing selection of !08-inch wide backing prints.

We have expanded or selection and on-hand inventory of stabilizers. We are looking at adding our OWN branded line of stabilizers in the new year.

We have greatly expanded or selection of threads, we now have Sulky Cotton Quilt Threads and and expanded line of verigated Blendables. We are looking at even more types, weights, and brands in the new year.

We have hosted TWO (2) of the Husqvarna-Viking educators in the last six months and held three multi-day Embroidery Software Events with a nationally know educator. We are developing our weekly classes for the coming year and will be publishing the same VERY soon. Some of the classes that are coming up is a Jelly Roll Rug and mystery quilt. We are going to be holding BASIC/BEGINNERS classes on the embroidery software after the first of the year.... IF you have an idea for a class, let us know, we'll see if we can work it in.

NEW LOCATION - We Moved Again

(2018-7-05) If you've been by the Store the past few days you will find we are NOT THERE. No we have not closed operation, we had to move... Here are the reasons.

One our lease was up 1 July. The Landlord wanted to raise our rent significantly. In negotiations, it was clear he was not going to make needed repairs to the building and was unwilling to give us for repairs we made.

The next day, the leak in the roof opened up on a client and we had two ballasts in the lights go out. As regulars to the shop know, I have spent a huge amount of time working on the lighting in that building since we moved in. These were the tipping point incidents. Combined with the fact that there were indications of other problems with the electrical system, the HV/AC was not operating properly increasing the utility bills significantly, and other structural issue which we felt were becoming safety issues to clients and staff.

If that was not enough, we were informed a bar was going in next door. Negotiating the parking lot and getting to the shop off the highway was enough of a challenge without contending with the additional traffic a bar would bring.

The lord was good and at the same time, we were offered the old Day Photography Studio, right down the road. This is the building that sets on the bank above the PRIMATIVE PORCH (Formally the Lighthouse Christian Bookstore). We signed a year lease with options to extend and buy….

This location and move provides many advantages:

o While we are losing some space, it is a MUCH NICER BUILDING.

o ACCESS off the HIGHWAY is much easier, safer. We also have direct access off the old Dixie Highway in the back.

o Better/more parking (fewer pot holes!).

o Much CALMER environment. Being back from and above the Highway there is much less road noise.

o Much better lighting

o Better display Area.

While we are not fully set-up at this point, we are operational. Come and see us.

CLOSING the store on MONDAYS

~~~~~NEW HOURS ~~~~~~~~~~~~

We have decided the store WILL BE CLOSED on MONDAYS from now on (starting on 9 April 2018)...

Sharon and I cannot continue to operate the store Six Days a week. We were attempting to run half a day on Mondays, but it just wasn't working out as it was turning into another full day. Maybe in the future, as business picks up and we can afford additional staffing, we will be able to open again on Mondays.

We hope you can understand.

And Expanded Line of Products -Quilt Backing

This week saw us expand our line of products!!!!
We brought in our first selection of Quilt Backings...

We brought in FOUR (4) Different Prints of 108-inch wide, Quilt Backings. One print comes in TWO(2) different colors so there are FIVE (5) to choose from.

Yes, the ones we have at this point are basically WHITE withe Gray and Natural tone... Yes, we will be expanding our line with MORE colors and patterns AND 120-inch wide selections, BUT we had to START somewhere and these were the ones we had offered. You can see these in our Featured Products OR under Quilt Backings. Keep an eye out as more will follow.

BIG BIG CHANGES

1 November 2017, Gordon Bell bought the Bedford Sewing Center from Sue Martin. Sue had decided earlier in the year that she was going to either sell or close the shop by the first of the year. In that time, Gordon built inventory and started some initiatives that greatly benefited the store. Unfortunately, those efforts were NOT enough to off-set the disruption due to the cities construction next door and use of the parking lot as a materials yard, the closing the street all the time.

The opportunity to rent the new building presented itself. After consideration of the impact of construction activities and benefits of the new location, we decided to make the move.

3 November, we started relocation all while attempting to maintain operation! We have done pretty well all things considered.. On Tuesday, 7 November, we hosted our first class with two in attendance. We have even been able to make a few sales…. We continue you to organize and get things operational…!!!!

IT has been a while...

We've not done a good job keeping our blog up.... That does NOT mean that we haven't been working to improve...

IF you haven't been in the shop lately, you need to stop by and take a look! A number of things have happened tn the last few months. Here is just a partial list of things we have done:

-We have added a HUGE amount of fabrics to our collection.

- expanded our selection of Train and Railroad fabrics by a third.
- restocked our selection of White-on-Whites and Natural Tone prints.
- added a number of Space & Aviation prints.
- A new FALL/Autumn themed Forest print featuring Deer and Elk.
- A new line of small oak leaf print in 17 colors.
These are just a FEW of the new fabrics we've added. In all we have expanded by close to $5,000 dollars of new fabrics and we have another 20 BOLTS coming in this week!

-We have acquired an Accuquilt Studio Cutter and have started to assemble our own pre-cuts. We have 2-inch, 4 1/2-inch, and 10-inch squares. We also have Strip packs of 2.5-inches, 2-inches and 1 1/2-inches. We are getting cutters for different quilt blocks which will allow us to assemble our own quilt kits....

- and there is our Row-by-Row which has been widely received.... Less than half way through the experience and we have sold kits from Arizona to Maine to Minnesota to Florida. We know of at least two that have went to NASA employees or spouses.

There's a LOT of things happening in the shop, stop in and see for yourself, you might be pleasantly surprised...

BIG FABRIC CLEARANCE SALE !!!!!

STARTING 20 June, 2016, ALL of the older fabrics (Regular $8.00/yard) will be on sale for $6.00/yard......

We HAVE to clear the shelves for NEW inventory....

There are lots of quality, brand name fabrics in this group... MOST of these ARE NOT showing up on the WEB page so you have to come in to see them...

We are also planning a Christmas in July sale.... There are going to be some major savings on machines....

A Class Schedule! In coming days, you will see a list of our up coming classes with a detailed description of the project, a materials list and the ability to reserve your spot in the class.
An on-line store where you will be able to see our merchandise but place orders.

What you won't see is that this new system will allow us to maintain a record of your purchases. This means when you start work on that project you bought materials for months ago and discover you're short, we can go back and see what color thread it was you bought or what fabric and match it for you....

There are many other features but instead of telling you about them, we are going to spend the time implementing them!!!
