PILLOWCASE KITS

One of the things that we regularly hear is what a wonderful selection of novelty prints we have but it is often followed by,

"I just don't know what I'd do/make with them....." We also often hear comments of, "... oh my [relative/friend] loves [theme of print] and I'd love to make them something but I don't know what..."

In trying to address that concern, we came up with the idea of assembling various kits. We have a number of Christmas Stocking Kits, But those are seasonal..
We have Quilt Kits, many of our own design, but those are more involved than some want to take on...

The challenge is to find projects which are appealing, match the skill level of the purchaser, and for those wanting to make a gift, their budget. And in speaking of budget, it is not just Money, but TIME they will have to invest.

OUR ANSWER is a PILLOWCASE KIT....

The Pillowcase Kit addresses many of the concerns we hear expressed:

First, it is a QUICK Project! Even a beginning sewist should be able to finish a kit in around an HOUR'S time Becoming faster as they gain experience.

Second, it's EASY! These are one of the easiest, simplest project possible! [We use a version of the burrito roll style in our kits, it is know by many different names.] Even the beginning sewist can complete with minimal assistance as it is ALL straight stitches... This is why this project is used by the 4-H, Girl Scouts, and many High School "Family Sciences" (Home Economics for us older folks) classes in school to teach beginners

Three, they are FUNCTIONAL. EVERYONE uses pillowcases! This is one of the factors that make them such a PERFECT GIFT.... Given the range of SUBJECTS available, there is something to meet the interests of EVERYBODY. These Appeal to ALL ages, from the Child to college student, to the retired train buff, there is a THEME they will enjoy and appreciate....
Four, They are ECONOMICAL. Yes, you can buy a finished pillowcase for less at the big box store, BUT will it be personalized? You can't say that store bought gift is unique, it is just one of a million others out there just like it. These kits are limited productions. Many of the prints we use are limited runs by the manufacturers, so once they are gone, there will be no more....

We have kits in an ever expanding range of subjects and themes! We started featuring LOCAL COLLEGES. We now have kits featuring ALL modes of Transportation, Wildlife, Historical, you name it.... AND, if we don't have a kit you like, let us know and we will see what we can do to create a speciial one for YOU.....

PRICING of the KITS:

These kits are of ALL different prices. There are a number of factors that go into pricing. Some of these kits Use Directional Fabrics which means they take more material. Some of these prints are DIGITAL prints and thus more expensive. Some of these prints are LICENSED prints (collegiate and brand name products for instance) and royalties paid. Some prints are VERY SMALL production runs and thus more expensive...

What we try and do is figure the cost of the kits if you were to buy the fabric yourself at the regular cost adding a little for the design, cutting, packaging, instructions and marketing. Consider it a convenience fee in that you do not have to spend the time selecting and assembling the fabrics, finding a pattern and instructions, that's ALL done for you. What's your time worth? IF you value your time at all it will be more than what we have added for ours.
